In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most streamed single at the time within six months. When Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, well-known musicians began to join forces with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny have collaborated on MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna and Maluma collaborated on Medellin and Medellin in 2019 Reggaeton's most prominent performers were unhappy about the trend toward mainstream music in 2020. Yet a new group, Rauw alejandro, was trying to change the course. In his music, he often used elements from electronic dance music and other styles.
